[Mapserver-west] "Geospatial Foundation" Meeting

This announcement is great news, especially the attendee list. The
scope of the foundation appears to have expanded drastically from what
it looked like in the first iteration. I was worried that the way it
was initially presented, as a two-project fait accompli, would scare off
many valuable OS projects.
This message, especially with the optics of being jointly presented by
Paul and Gary and the openness it shows, increases my optimism for the
success of the foundation.

In order to help move along the process of starting an "open source
geospatial foundation" there will be a face-to-face meeting in Chicago,
Westin O'Hare, on February 4, 2006, hosted by Autodesk. In conceiving of
this meeting, we have tried (and will continue to try) to follow these
