Paul Thanks for the suggestions The computer the software is being installed on runs windows XP Pro. I use both windows explorer 6.0 and Netscape 7.0. The only XP firewall that appears to be in place is related to internet connection. I turned this off ISS was uninstalled from the computer and version ms4w_0.7.zip was downloaded and installed. I tried http://localhost/ again with Windows Explorer and got a blank browser screen and the progress bar of the browser slowly moving to timeout. I have seen no messages in the apache box. Still trying to determine what may be the difficulty Thanks Stephen Wallace -----Original Message----- From: Paul Spencer [mailto:pagameba@magma.ca] Sent: November 5, 2003 2:04 PM To: gis@gisrs.com Cc: ms4w-users@lists.maptools.org Subject: Re: [ms4w-users] Help with MS4W installation Stephen, some more things to try: 1. are you running any sort of personal firewall? WinXP has a tendancy to set stuff like this up automagically 2. latest version is ms4w_0.7.zip, you can get it from: http://www.maptools.org/dl/ms4w/ms4w_0.7.zip I don't think that the changes between 0.6 and 0.7 would account for this kind of thing, but who knows. 3. What OS are you using 4. What browser and version are you using? 5. Does IIS work if you enable it? 6. Do you get any messages in the 'blank' box after you start Apache? Cheers, Paul Stephen Wallace wrote: > Paul > > I checked the directory structure and it is as you outlined.
