Hello Yves,

The README_INSTALL mentions Oracle and PostGIS for FastCGI (and also 
points to the MapServer FastCGI howto), but during the 2009 FOSS4G 
benchmarking exercise we discovered that there was a significant 
increase in performance for shapefiles also (e.g. the table below 
slide#15 in: 
http://www.slideshare.net/gatewaygeomatics.com/wms-performance-shootout). 
It was a surprise to me also.
