Thank you very much for your response. 

Just renamed _gdal.dll to _gdal.pyd and now it works fine.

I will test MS4W 3.0 as soon as possible,

Just one more question. It seems there are duplicated python tools in "C:\ms4w\python\gdal\utilities" and "C:\ms4w\tools\python-gdal"
Any particular reason for that?

Luis,

The issue and solution is fully described in this previous ticket: 
http://bugzilla.maptools.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2007 (it has to do with 
python from version 2.5 not being able to load files with a .dll 
extension)  I'd love to hear your feedback in that ticket (testing with 
3.0 version, etc etc)
