Jeff,
please correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to me that the msplugin_mssql2008.dll in package ms4w_3.0.1 has rev. 10395 from 2010-07-24. However, the geography support was implemented in oct. 2010.

Hello Andreas,
MS4W version 3.0.1 is available with a recent version of
msplugin_mssql2008.dll that you require; you are correct that the 6.0.0-beta
package does not contain all of the MS4W functionality, but is available for
testing and feedback. Once the final MapServer 6.0.0 release is available,
a full MS4W release will be available.
