I notice that your DATA variable for cities doesn't contain a FROM keyword:<br>
DATA "the_geom cities"<br>
I think it needs to be:<br>
DATA "the_geom FROM cities"<br>
And for FIST:<br>
DATA "the_geom FROM public.cities"<br>
