[Proj] website cartographic executables---a query

I have been experimenting with php and various capabilities of website
options. For example, computing the spherical geodesic is relatively
simple and should be codable as a php function. Thus a website
could be constructed where the user can key in the coordinates of
two points and obtain distance and azimuth. Even an elliptical
version should not be too difficult.
My experimentation is now limited to my host machine with Apache
and I am at liberty to push the limits including including using C programs.
Unfortunately, the web space provided by my ISP does not even allow
php so I am not currently able to demonstate any of these efforts.
I am currently unaware of any website that offers the basic service
offered by program lproj (or, for that matter, proj or derivatives).
If a website would provide for C program it would seem useful to
be able to select a projection, specify its details and get a
conversion of coordinate pairs. With data base facility, the user
should be able to select grid system specs, etc. on the browser and
do conversions.
The main purpose of such a website is to provide "instant" demonstration
of a projection or datum conversion. It seems useful to be able to get
sample conversions related to the user's particular data problems.
I would appreciate any comments on the usefulness of the above ideas
and the feasibility of implementation. Also, any recommendations
on website hosts would be appreciated.
Thank-you.
