[Proj] State-wide projection for Italy?

Hi,

in Italy the Gauss-Boaga system is commonly used besides UTM.
Both systems aren't appropriate for state-wide mapping of
Italy since both of them are splitting the country into
two zones.
Seeking around, I could not identify a recommended projection
to be used for all-Italy maps.

I would be grateful to receive suggestion(s).
