Hello,

There is a windows program that can calculate distances on a sphere.
You enter two point coordinates and get the distance in meters (also
the course at the first point). The program assumes that the earth is
a sphere with a circumference of 360 x 60 x nm

where nm = 1852.000000 m (one nauticle mile)

It can be downloaded here

http://www.elisanet.fi/master.navigator/xCalc/

It is free and can also calculate other expressions and functions.

It is very close to truth on small distances wher the flattening of the
earth does not start to affect the calculations too much. Remember,
there is no straight line on a sphere.

Regards: Janne.
