Just out of curiosity, have you looked at the openSUSE Build Service?
It is set up for these types of things. The great thing is that once
you set it up,
it makes installables for many Linux distros and even Windows (using
MinG
and all, so your autoconfig and all are still used). It is designed to
keep things
current. I think the other library discussed in these parts is already
there.

I realize that you are quite busy with your current tasks. But this is
directly
related to them.

You can check out the Build Service here: http://en.opensuse.org/Buildservice

You can look for software here: http://software.opensuse.org/search

This site is not just rpmfind in new clothing. All the software here
is complete in that
all dependencies are satisfied. Getting software does not require a
login. Adding
things does. All for free.

I'm just a happy user of it. No official connection.

And remember:

It is RSofT and there is always something under construction.
It is like talking about large city with all constructions finished.
Not impossible, but very unlikely.
