The market for software is very dangerous for an inexperienced consumer.
Often  the most tempting deal is the least usable -- why? -- since those
people use all their effort to sell the program and not to make it or develop
it. Often the low cost packages are also nothing else than pirated programs
coming from far east countries.

If you can really make it and save any money doing it your self then I agree
with you - the other side is that it seldom pays if there is any usable ready
made alternative .. and if you simply do not have time to develop, test and
write it due to doing something else that pays better.
