correct. However, many clients would really love to know the geometry =
type better. They can for example handle geometries internally in a =
shapefile way, points, lines and polygons separately. It can also be =
good to know that some layer contains only polygons and not =
multipolygons. Especially important it is with WFS-T and tables having =
constraints for geometry types. So I would say this as a useful =
improvement.
I know that Geoserver tries to get the exact geometry type from the =
backend and advertise it. If the automatic recognation faild Geoserver =
admin can edit the schema manually.

Is what I'm trying to achieve not OGC supported ? If not, could the be=20
a way to setup the geom type in the config.xml file as a metadata option =
or something like that ?
