Perhaps, the computed scale is not exactly 50,000 (eg. 50,001). Try to 
add a slight offset to your raster maxscale.

Hard to say with so few details of the symptoms...
You may check that parameter "cartoclientBaseUrl" is correctly set in 
client_conf/client.ini
