images and resources files are automatically linked from the 
'cartoweb3/projects/myproject/' subfolder to 
'cartoweb3/htdocs/myproject/.....'

so you simply need to put your files in your 'cartoweb3/projects/myproject/' 
subfolders and the install script create the symbolic links (if you use 
linux, on windows it copy the files ) into 'cartoweb3/htdocs/myproject' 
subfolders

cartoweb will always look into cartoweb3/htdocs for resources, this is not 
something you should try to modify
