Hello,

I think that you misuse the po file which is used only to translate text! Not 
to fill variable with any html tags.

Maybe you can try something like add a smarty translated text in the image 
insertion :
 src="{r type=gfx/layout}{t}A.png{/t}{/r}"

And so translate only the text "A.png"!
