further to this, a WMC requires WMS layers so you would need to save  
the ROI into a new layer in a map file that is exposed as a WMS  
server.  This would not allow you to restore real state either, since  
a WMS is just a picture of the data, not the data itself.  That would  
require a WFS ...

All in all, its not ideal to use WMC for this.
