Bart,

Did you try using the approach I mentioned here:

http://lists.maptools.org/pipermail/chameleon/2004-August/001269.html

Not a real fix, but works well enough for us. I'd hate to have to go to
non-jsapi mode myself, especially on a slow connection.

Strange though, that it happens more with PHP as a module.
