[FWTools] gdal2tiles.py? is there a walk through...

What are the caveats or difficulties in this.. I am feeling stupid.. I 
downloaded FWTools 2.0.3 for windows.
and the gdal2tiles.py script.. but I am getting a nasty .. dll based 
error trying to run it..from the FWTools shell  I noticed I have 2.2 and 
2.5 as well as earlier versions of FWTools on the system

The previous attempt at this was on my wifes Vista Machine which was 
mostly clean.. .
