[Geotiff] Merging a very large amount of jpeg-files to a tiled jpeg-compressed GeoTiff images

This is what I've been doing, but the whole conversion process takes
10 days (CPU bound) and I cannot compress the images as much as I want
to due to the already compressed input data.
