I had some tests with windows 2000 and IE 6.0.28.
trying to solve some bugs:

I didn't experienced it.

I will post soon a GIF version, I've found no solutions with CSS tricks 
for PNG for the moment.
If you are in a hurry you can convert all toolbar image in transparent 
GIF and it will work.

I didn't experienced it.

If you are still experiencing the problems you listed please tell us 
you OS and IE version, I'll try to find one.
