[ka-Map-users] cvs access available

Excellent work Paul. My first impressions based purely on frontend.. (no
access to cvs until I get home)

1. Layer transparency is excellent - although a bit non-intuitive.
	a. Is there anyway we could define a new tag either in the
mapfile (metdata?) or in the kamap layer config to specify default
transparency values for layer groups?
	b. Needs to be a way in which the user can identify the current
transparency level.
	c. Perhaps a "slider" may be a more efficient way to set trans
level? Will also not limit the user to the current 4 trans levels)?

2. No overview map? Bug?

3. Layer toggling seems fine, minus the bugs you've already mentioned.

4. Now that the underlying functionality is there, any plans for
client-side layer ordering?

Great work all round guys,

Chris Tweedie

Subject: [Maybe SPAM] [ka-Map-users] cvs access available

ka-Mapers ...

I've set up a live demo of the newer version of ka-Map at:

http://www.mapsherpa.com/ka-map/

it has a couple of glitches that we know about:

* in IE there seems to be a javascript error when you pan ... this
apparently affects the keymap updating

* in all browsers, if you change layer visibility then zoom in, all the
checkboxes reset even if the layers are really on.

There are also a couple of cool new things besides being able to turn
layers on and off :) check it out!

CVS access is now available, you can get the details from the cvs page
on the following page:

http://ka-map.maptools.org/index.phtml?page=cvs.html

(ignore the warning ... it won't disappear until about 26 May 2005 23:00

EST when the pages get updated)

Please note that the previously distributed files contained code that is

now in branch-0-1 in cvs. If you checkout with no branch, you will get
the newer version of the code ... it is almost identical except that I
have now extracted most of the javascript into separate files and
started to provide an API.

Also, the newer version now has the capability to separate the map image

into multiple layers based on groups in your map file, and a legend
template is provided to turn layers on and off.

When we have some feedback on stability of this version, we'll cut a new

tarball for those that are scared off by CVS :)

Cheers

Paul
