[ka-Map-users] Got it working

I'm assuming you are doing all this on windows. I suggest getting FWTools from maptools.org. It will include the command line program shp2img. This sounds most definitely like a configuration problem at your end, with the map file. If you want to jump over to the mapserver mailing list (or #mapserver channel on IRC would be even better) - then you can get some more help. But feel free to email me your map file and I'll have a peek. It's probably an EXTENT and PROJECTION problem.

On your article you refer to a program called "shp2img" and say if you have=
=20
map server installed in a way that you can use it. How is that "way"?=20

Currently I got your example working along with some others I found.=20
However, I'm now trying to add my own stuff and it's not working. We use=20
arcGIS for our mapping and can't seem to get the files to show up on ka map=
=20
(it's terribly annoying having to empty the cache directory so that's why I=
=20
wanted that utility). This is the case with both our aerials and shape=20
files???

Basically I took your example map file and changed it's name and referenced=
=20
our tiff exported from our mapping software along with our shape files=20
instead of the examples (and changed ka maps config file to include it and=
=20
that seems to work as it's an options). At first we thought our projections=
=20
were off and that could be the problem, but we changed them to fit the=20
example's projection type and still nothing shows up. Furthermore I'm not=
=20
getting any errors that let me know what the issue is (I get the "PHP Fatal=
=20
error: [MapServer Error]: msImageLoadGD(): ((null)) in=20
/var/www/html/KaMap/keymap.php on line 38" error since I don't have a=20
reference map but I dont' have that on the example either and it works). If=
=20
you go to the cache directory, it is making tiled images but they're just=
=20
blank...

I'm guessing this is more of a issue concerning mapserver but if anyone has=
=20
any hints or experience doing the same I would really appreciate your=20
feedback. I've learned a lot in two days but I still have a ways to go.

Thanks,
Clark
