CONNECTIONTYPE is an attribute of the Layer Object,

OGR is the setting you want it set to

CONNECTION is the accompanying attribute of layer in which you specify 
the .tab file name... this is used instead of DATA, (another attribute 
of the layer object)

If you set the "connectiontype" to "ogr", and then enter the file name 
in "connection" instead of "data", and set your other attributes as you 
would with any other type of spatial data, then you should be ok.
