When the filebrowser ends up in the common directory, that indicates  
that the session is not available for some reason. Can you locate the  
session directory that your php installation is using and see if there  
are any files created there at the time of your maplab session?

Also, please CC the maplab-users@lists.maptools.org address in your  
replies: someone else on the list may be able to help you and your  
experience might assist another user in the future.
