Hi,

I don't understand what the actual error is. The notice will not cause 
a problem (you can turn off display of notices in your php.ini file if 
you want). Is mapedit crashing? I would expect some output in your web 
server's error log if it is. Maplab also has some logging settings you 
can turn on in the configuration dialog that may provide some clues.
