Hi everyone,

I'm sending this information to you because you have been involved in
the use of MapServer and related open source technologies such as MapLab
and are operating within the Eastern Ontario / Western Quebec region.

I've had requests from a few of you to look at putting together an
Ottawa MapServer Users Group that would meet from time to time giving
users a chance to meet and share ideas about how we're using the
software in different ways across the region.

To start with, if you would be interested in participating and receiving
news on Ottawa activities, I would encourage you to subscribe to the
Ottawa MapServer users mailing list we have created:

http://lists.dmsolutions.ca/mailman/listinfo/mapserver-ottawa

This discussion list will be a forum for Ottawa users of the MapServer
webmapping software to stay in touch and talk about MapServer-related
events happening in the Ottawa region.

On to the important thing ... when are we going to meet? For a first
meeting, I think we'll try to keep things very informal -- how about an
after work meeting over a few drinks and appetizers? On April 16th,
Daniel Morissette will be in Ottawa so that seemed to be good timing for
a meeting. If you were not aware, Daniel is the primary developer of
MapServer along with Steve Lime so if you haven't met Daniel before,
this is a great opportunity to do so.

The Venue:
   - The Clock Tower Brew Pub at Bank and Chamberlain. (575 Bank
Street) If we can get enough people, I'll try to book the downstairs
area so that we can have the section to ourselves.

Date & Time:
   - Wednesday April 16th, Start at 5:30PM -- feel free to show up any
time you are able then or later.

Anyone who is interested in visiting our offices, we are at 72
Chamberlain Avenue, 3rd floor and I invite you to come by any time after
4:30PM on the 16th. We're a block from the pub, so we'll be leaving the
office at about 5:20.

Please respond to me directly if you plan on attending so I have an idea
of numbers to plan for. Feel free to pass this information around to
anyone who you feel might be interested in participating.

We're really looking forward to getting this off the ground. Further
correspondence will be done through the mailing list so don't forget to
subscribe!

I hope to see many of you on the 16th.

Dave
