[Mapserver-west] MapLab and Smarty? Some questions......

Hi everyone!

I have MapServer installed and created a demonstration based on the
G-Map Demonstration made by DM Solutions. I modified the code for my
dataset and looking at adding DB input next. I also installed PostGIS. A
lot of this was done the simple way (maybe a little long and tedious),
but I went through the code and made the modifications in NotePad or
WordPad to fit my dataset. I rebuilt the MAP file as well.

The install of MS4W does not include MapLab. When I downloaded the
MapLab from Maptools.org, it said most of the tools were installed with
MapServer. They do not appear present. I wanted to do some edits to the
MAP file and was under the impression that MapLab would aid me here.

Is it worth installing? Do you recommend something better? What other
tools should we use? On the PHP side, we should be able to incorporate
Smarty with PHP/Mapscript? No? What development tools do you guys use?

Cheers,
Dean
