Jeff,
Thanks for the additional tip.
I have tried various combinations that I could think of.
When the line is "....cgi-bin/mapserv" then it displays the standard message
"The page cannot be displayed...."
When the line is "...cgi-bin/mapserv.exe" then get a query
as to whether to allow mapserv.exe to run? When I answer yRUN
then a black cmd window flashes by, but the window displayed by
internet explorer does not change.
So it looks like mapserv.exe is executing, may not recongnize
that it is being executed as a cgi with a query_string?
Normally does a black cmd window flash by when mapserv.exe
executes?
Thank you for your thoughts on this configuration problem.
Regards,
- John

sometimes people are very quiet on this list...it might be worth your
time to also try the main mapserver mailing list.
the only line of your explanation that startles me is:
"c:/ms4w/apache/cgi-bin/mapserv"
You MUST specify "mapserv.exe" on Windows. And also, like I said
earlier, NO tweaking of apache or this demo is required if u use MS4W
and the Itasca-MS4W application (i.e. you don't have to modify that
above line at all).
