[Chameleon] Problems displaying

dear developers,

I downloaded the chameleon suite and set it up on my linux-box. This
works so far.

But when I try to display any samples out of the samples/-dir, the map
will not display, only the "loading-map...please wait"-sign is on the
main mapview.

All other pics are created and displayed well (keymap, scalebar,
legends).

Does anybody know where to search for the errors?!
