[Chameleon] Getting the samples working

I've done some further testing by commenting out most of the popplace
layer definition until I got something that worked without crashing
and then working back. It seems to be the FONT, TYPE & SIZE tags
inside the LABEL definitions for the popplace layer that are causing
the crash. Commenting out those three tags result in the layer
displaying (albeit with some default bitmap font). I assume the
freetype library is being used in the case of the truetype fonts. Can
anyone give me any ideas on how to get truetype rendering working? I
suppose it could still be configuration related somehow. The puzzling
thing is that shp2img renders the layer fine...
Thanks,
Corey
