Performance-wise JPEG is better, since it takes less bandwidth than 24-bits
PNG (many Kb's!).
But indeed quality of JPEG can sometimes be insufficient.

I'm not sure, so others may have a better knowledges of this, but the
JPEG can have less quality and may not support transparency.
