[FWTools] Black spots

I've been merging (gdal_merge.bat) together overlapping 3 band geotiff and
have had some issues with nodata values, using the option -n 0 creates black
voids in the resulting geotiff.  I know the black areas are not really
nodata areas but just areas with the value 0 0 0. If anyone knows a way to
merge tiles with overlapping black areas that would be great
