[FWTools] Overviews using TIFF? TIFF size error ... Need BIGTiff?

Noting that the version of FWTools I am using looks like it might
 have came out right around the time the BIGTIFF support was 
added I will be trying an update to see if I am asking about something
already changed. If not I might do a convert on my vrt to bigtiff
and have the overviews built internally ...which I think should 
get around the issue.
