The problem is simple. Probably the version of GD on your system does 
not support GIF output. Patent reason. To avoid this, please make sur 
you mapfile have the output type set to something like PNG. Also make 
sure your reference image is NOT a gif. I think that the tutorial have a 
gif reference map.

Thanks you for your comments. We're trying really hard at DM Solutions 
to make Maplab easy to configure. But you may also know that web 
applications world sometime can be very hard to make it work due to all 
different systems that should be supported. That being said, if you have 
something in mind that can help, a sugestion, anything, please feel free 
to share it with us. Every comments are welcome.
