Are you talking about the BSOD: Blue screen of death?
That can only be caused by software running in kernel mode, for
example badly coded video drivers (this was common in the oldNT4
days).
Since you are running on a 64bit OS I wouldn't be surprised if the
bsod was caused by flacky 32bit drivers. BTW, what hardware is it (hp,
dell, ibm or other)? IIf I was in you I'd look at the vendor site for
updated drivers.
Also next time the bsod bites you write down the error, that is
usually most useful in finding the culprit.
