did you verify the po file is encoded in utf8 ? and that you have correct set the EncoderClass parameters in your client.ini
about using an encoding different from utf8 or iso-8859-1, it is certainly possible.
All you have to do is to define some encoding/decoding class to handle that encoding.
look at common/Encoding.php, at the moment there is only a EncoderUTF and EncoderISO class. You would need to make do some new class to handle 8859-2
there was already some message about that posted on the mailinglist

You certainly get a more stable result and some kind of universality.
UTF-8 is not workung. I adjusted .ini files for UTF-8.
But it still isn't translating ľčťť ...... and more Slovak letters.
I don't understand that.
